Second Edition - 141 pages, illustrated

One day before VE Day, a B-29 flying fortress bomber nicknamed the Empire Express flew its final mission over the southern island of Japan. The bomber was rammed by a Japanese fighter plane and spiraled out of control before crashing into the side of a mountain. Three crew members, including Otto Baumgarten from Baraboo, were able to escape by parachute only to be captured by Japanese officials. The story was almost forgotten until Mike Berg heard about it and had to investigate. His investigation led him on an emotional round-the-world search.
