Gone But Not Forgotten, The Sequel
If you haven’t visited Lake Delton and Wisconsin Dells in a while you might be surprised at all of the changes. It seems each year brings some new attraction in place of something else. Some attractions last for years and some for decades becoming part of the vacation memories for generations of family members.
Artists and Artisans Exhibit
Visit the Sauk County Historical Society to see this year’s one-of-a-kind treasures. Open every Friday and Saturday, noon to 4 pm.
Baraboo Tour of Historic Homes

Start your tour at any of the five homes and visit the others in any order you wish. A program with information on each home will be handed out at the first house you visit.
June 15 - Summer Picnic - Shhhh It's a Secret!
The Society’s annual summer picnic will be held on Wednesday, June 15th starting at 6 pm. but we need you to keep it a secret, at least from one person anyway. Society member John Geoghegan is turning 100 years old that day and we want to throw him a party!
Man Mound Panel Dedication

The Sauk County Historical Society is proud to announce the celebration of Man Mound with the unveiling of new interpretive panels that will educate all about Man Mound, the Indigenous history of Wisconsin and the sacred mound culture that once dominated the Sauk County landscape. The event will take place on May 14th at 1 p.m. with guest speakers."

Historic Homes at the State Capitol
April 2022
Recently, SCHS volunteers along with photographer Eric Oxendorf installed an exhibit in the state capitol rotunda showcasing historic homes of Sauk County. The exhibit, entitled The Beauty of Midwest Homes - Pre 1940, includes twenty-four photos taken by Oxendorf. The exhibit will be at the state capitol through the month of April. The building is open to the public so if you are in Madison stop in and take a look!
The Great Ice Storm of 2-22-22
The ice storm 2-22-1922 will be the topic of a presentation on 2-22-2022 in person at the History Center at 7 pm and online on Thursday, March 3rd at 7pm.

Indigenous Peoples Day 2021
Sauk County Indigenous Peoples Day will be held on October 11 at the historic Reedsburg depot with the unveiling of a new interpretive panel highlighting the thwarted deportation of some of the family of Chief Aahuchoga (Blue Wing) by federal agents when residents of Reedsburg intervened.

It’s time for the “drive-in” Annual Meeting and Fall Picnic at the fairgrounds! (bring a chair to sit) outside if you like). From the comfort of your own automobile receive a delicious boxed fall picnic meal from the Broadway Diner and park to face the west wall of the historic grandstand where the evening’s program will be projected.
Digging into the Past
Throughout this workshop, participants will learn how to study the human past. Four unique workstations allow children to understand the importance of recovering artifacts, research soils, map and record a site; All to determine how people lived long ago.
Tuesdays with a First Lady Series
Founded in 2000 by Michna, First Impressions presents history in an entertaining yet accurate manner by presenting women of history who are brought to life with historical theatrical narratives. In 2016 she was awarded the Presidential Service Center’s Distinguished Service Award for her riveting portrayals of first ladies.
