Devil’s Lake Flood of 1927
The lake was 965 feet above sea level in this photo . Officially the lake is 43 feet deep. The average depth is 30 feet. The first survey was conducted by university students under the leadership of Professor Leonard S. Smith. The students found the lake to be no deeper than 55 feet. The lake itself is 950 feet above sea level .
Devil’s Lake Flood of 1951
The lake is 965.4 feet above sea level. Here, the lake was four and a half feet above normal.
