"Preserving the Past for the Future"

The Sauk City Library has a small obituary file that was donated by Myrtle Cushing. The obituaries were translated from the German newspaper printed in Sauk City from 1860 to 1930. Sep.1929 is the first issue of the Pioneer Press in English, previously it was printed in German. The library also has an alphabetical obituary file, which contains obituaries of numerous people listed in the local paper. The Sauk Prairie Star is on microfilm up to June 2005. Subsequent newspapers are kept in the library until put on microfilm. Patrons may request help in locating obituaries or information from newspapers by contacting the Sauk City Library, attention Josie, or by e-mail SKCJOSIE@scls.lib.wi.us.
