"Preserving the Past for the Future"

Sauk County At War
Virtual Online Exhibit
Sauk County can claim a connection to most of the major conflicts or wars in which our country has been involved.  From the graves of a Revolutionary War and Napoleonic War veterans to our current servicemen and women serving in the Iraq and Afganistan Wars, Sauk County has seen its share of hardship and national pride during times of conflict.

Sauk County at War is an intimate look at how war has affected the county and its citizens, both on the frontlines and on the home front.

In addition to national conflicts, this exhibit also looks at the conflicts which are unique to Sauk County.  The Battle of Wisconsin Heights during the Black Hawk War and the Saw Log War in Reedsburg were conflicts that while local, had an impact on the development and settlement of our county.

War has both taken away from and given back to Sauk County.  Please view this exhibit and see how conflicts have shaped who we are and how we live.
