Easily one of the largest collections of historic buildings in the county is the Pioneer Log Village and Museum just 3 miles east of Reedsburg on Highway 23/33. Gathered from 30 miles around are eight structures, all built between the Civil War and the end of the 19th century. The old buildings contain a blacksmith shop, general store, library, a one-room schoolhouse and a church. The museum collection is housed in several buildings. Among the artifacts are farm machinery, a collection of Agnes Moorhead memorable, displays of vintage clothing in a living-room setting, and countless other historic items which will intrigue the visitor. It is the mission of the Sauk City Historic Preservation Committee that the preservation of Sauk City's past will create a strong civic pride in our community by its citizens that will benefit our community economically through the attraction of tourists to our river town community thereby promoting growth in business and other future developments. The Wisconsin River is the Gateway to Sauk City. In 2004, Sauk City celebrated its 150th birthday as the oldest incorporated village in the State of Wisconsin. Our history is the key to Sauk City's future. The committee operates the Hahn House, a pioneer home; a schoolhouse; and an old fashioned general store. Tours are available. Badger Steam & Gas Engine Club
Located in Sauk County, the Club specalizes in collecting and displaying antique steam and gas engines and tractors. A show is held annually on the Friday, Saturday, and Sunday two weeks before labor day. Located on a 146 acre show site, the show features displays of over 400 gas engines, large steam engines, models & miniatures, a woodworking & blacksmith shop, antique cars and trucks.
